  Fortified in the XIIIth century, the Bonne-Nouvelle gate is one of the three gates of Mennetou-sur-Cher that are still up. It belongs to a whole defensive system of ramparts around the town. A part of those ramparts has been destroyed in the XIXth century along with several of the medieval gates, but the Bonne-Nouvelle one is still there.
